Hakkinen
spins off, Large fish found nearby
A turbulent,
troubled season continues for reigning Formula 1 champion Mika Hakkinen,
who spins off course while leading and hands
the Italian Grand Prix victory to Heinz-Harald Frentzen. It is speculated
that oil and scales from a large Mediterranean fish found just outside
of the first chicane may have caused the silver McLaren to lose traction
under braking. Track officials identified the fish as an Amberjack (similar
to the one pictured) which are found in large numbers off the southern
coast of Sardinia.
Hakkinen, visably disturbed by
the incident, commented, "The odor was horrific! As soon as I climbed out
of the car the stench of rotting fish overpowered me making me nauseous
and my eyes were swollen and teary." Hakkinen spent several moments in
the bushes due to the sudden illness.
The fish was found wrapped
in old architectual plans for a state prison designed several years ago
by the noted stylist Aldo Vanini, known as the "modern Michaelangelo" by
his peers.
